Dan oversees Gibson Electric & Technology Solutions’ full range of commercial electrical construction, telecommunications, and life safety services, helping to ensure that every project results in consistently high-quality client solutions. His responsibilities include overall business strategy, internal policies and procedures, market evaluation, and new-service development. In all of these activities, his primary objective is to deliver the innovative electrical and technological solutions clients need to meet facilities management challenges both today and tomorrow.

Electrical & Structured Cabling Services Expertise

Dan has built his communications and technology systems expertise on more than 35 years of industry training and experience. He began his career with Communications Contractors, Inc. and Ameritech Information Systems, where he held positions as communication technician, foreman, general foreman, superintendent, and union steward.

In 1992, he co-founded Communications & Data Services, Inc. (CDS), which he managed until Gibson acquired the firm in 1998. Prior to taking his current position, he was senior vice president in charge of Gibson's Technology Division. Responsible for the division's overall management, he oversaw a staff of sales engineers, project managers, warehouse personnel, operations people, and administrators. He became Gibson's president and CEO in 2006.

In 1986, Dan completed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers' (IBEW) four-year communications apprenticeship program through Local 134. His training also includes estimating courses from TRF and Congest Software Systems, and various management classes through FMI, Babson College, and The Thayer Leadership Development Group Course at West Point.

Licensed by the City of Chicago in 1992 as a supervising low-voltage electrician, Dan has been a certified value-added reseller (VAR) of various structured-cabling manufacturers (voice/data/fiber optics). He is also proficient in copper and fiber-optic splicing, central office installations, and data center and network design, as well as wireless, life safety, building management, integrated security, and PBX systems.

Dan is a member of Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI). He also serves as a Board member on the Northeastern Illinois Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Dan holds many positions with the Chicago Chapter ECA (Electrical Contractors Association) such as: chairman – LMCC Chicago; member and chairman of the Communications Committee; and elected member of the Executive Committee. Other industry involvement includes: Communication Technology Forum (CTF) committee (past president). Dan also  serves on the Board for the annual St. Paddy's Day Luncheon and was the 2017 recipient of the Electrical Industry of Chicago’s “The Big Shillelagh.”

Married with two children, Dan enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing, fishing, and exercising.
